Yes. We have the latest, portable versions of the equipment you find in a typical High Street Opticians. We can check all the same things as a high street optician including your vision, prescription, eye health, eye pressure and visual fields. All Visioncall Opticians are fully qualified and registered , with many years of experience.
It’s helpful to have an area in mind where we can set up our equipment to conduct the eye testing. This area should be a room large enough to situate 3 people or so
It should be a room in which we can alter the level of light from Bright to Dark.
As some residents may be hearing impaired, the room should be quiet.
This could be a clinical room, a reading room or an unoccupied bedroom.
We will assess your vision to check if you are having any difficulty seeing objects up close or far away. We will recommend glasses if we think they will improve your Eyesight. We will also check the health of your eye to rule out any potential conditions which may be impact your vision.
The majority of the population should have an eye test every two years. As we age however, we are prone to certain conditions which can affect our eye sight and eye health.
Anyone with conditions such as Diabetes, Glaucoma (including a family member), Cataracts, or Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) should have an Eye Test every 12 Months.

Patients with dementia can sometimes be overlooked. Efforts should be made to include this most vulnerable sector of society for regular eye examinations. A 2017 study found each of the four key tests of an eye examination (retinoscopy, subjective, direct ophthalmoscopy,tonometry ) was possible in over 80% of people with dementia.
Our cutting edge Optical Lab will get working on your glasses the moment your dispense has been completed. Certain Lenses (Bifocal/Varifocal/ Thin and light etc) may need to be specially made first, before they are cut into your Optical Frame. Once all is ready, your glasses will be hand delivered and fitted by one of our Eye Care Co-Ordinators, generally within 2 weeks.
